Summary

  • Customer Need / Challenge

In rock fall monitoring, ensuring real-time detection and prevention of slope failures in high-risk areas like highways, tunnels, and mining sites. Traditional monitoring methods often lack precision in measuring the forces acting on protective barriers. Load cells play a crucial role by providing accurate force measurements on rockfall barriers and anchor points, enabling engineers to assess structural integrity and predict failures.

  • Interface Solution

Interface’s LWHP18 High Capacity Precision Load Washer Load Cells provide a reliable solution for rockfall monitoring. The LWHP18’s measure the forces exerted on protective barriers and anchor points on the rock wall being monitored. By integrating these load cells into monitoring systems, engineers can detect stress changes in real time, allowing for early warning of potential slope failures.

  • Results

Interface’s LWHP18 High Capacity Precision Load Washer Load Cells successfully monitored rock falls by providing real-time, accurate data on the forces acting on protective barriers.

Materials

  • WMC Sealed Stainless Steel Miniature Load Cell
  • 9330 High Speed Data Logger
  • Customer PC or Laptop

How it Works

  1. The WMC Sealed Stainless Steel Miniature Load Cell is attached to the test rig.
  2. The actuator of the test rig presses down onto the airbag connector until it latches. The WMC collects the force measurements.
  3. Data can be reviewed using the 9330 High Speed Data Logger, and the customer can determine the exact force measurement when electrical contact has been made. Results can be logged, downloaded, and reviewed when connected to a PC or laptop.
